What is a TLO?
A TLO (Telephone Liaison Officer) is a person (or group of people) who are nominated by an institution to be the primary contact(s) between an institution and the Telecoms Helpdesk.
If a person from an institution contacts the Telecoms Helpdesk for anything other than help in using our services (e.g. ordering, ceasing, access level changes, name changes, etc) then we will direct them back to the institution's TLO for authorisation of the request.
We do this to protect both the Telecoms Office and the institution from fraud. You will know within your institution, if a request is from an appropriate person or not.
We give TLOs access to some of our management tools to enable you to do some day-to-day changes to the phone system yourself.
Telecoms Mailing List
News and updates are emailed to the announce@phone mailing list. If you are not on this list, and would like to be, please contact the Telecoms Helpdesk.
Announcements will also appear on the Telecoms home page, https://www.phone.cam.ac.uk/.
Telecoms User Forum
The user forum is intended to be a way for departments and colleges to discuss with the Telecoms Office the provision of telecoms services within the University. The forum typically meets once a term.
The date, time and location of meetings are announced via the mailing list and at https://www.phone.cam.ac.uk/support/user-forum.
